I've noticed that what we expect out of life has a lot to do with how happy we are.
Take my friend Maria, for instance. She's an idealist. She expects a lot out of herself and a lot out of life. When life doesn't meet her expectations, she doesn't understand why and becomes unhappy.
I notice that the snails come out onto the cement right after it rains. I'm not sure why; maybe the wet mud is too slippery for them. Or maybe they like the feel of the cold, hard cement on their tushies once in a while.
Whatever the reason, I couldn't help watching one of them the other day. It inched along without a care in the world, leaving behind a shiny sliver of slime. And it made me wonder: wouldn't it be great to be a snail?
Romance is different for a guy than it is for a girl. Romance for a girl is what we all mean when we say the word. It's passion, it's love, it's little boxes of chocolate and flowers and poems about knights on white horses.
They say that your friends can tell you a lot about you. Your friends reflect your personality because we all tend to make friends with similar tastes or attitudes. While not as sharp as a mirror, they're enough to see our dimples and pimples.
Having trouble in the dating world? Not meeting enough people? Not meeting the right people?
The same can be said about business contacts. So here's a thought. Why not take a business networking approach to dating?
Here's the idea:
You can't escape it. It's all around you. Everyday, you face it and have to deal with it. It is politics.
The Merriam-Webster Dictionary defines Politics as: "The art or science concerned with guiding or influencing government policy; competition between groups or individuals for power and leadership."
Cars are somewhat more permanent than ice cream, I think. So with that thought, I'd like to update my Ice Cream Theory to the Test Drive Theory.
Here's how the Test Drive Theory goes.
"I know why guys hate dancing so much."
"Oh?" I whirled my Jack & Coke, then tossed the straw into a napkin.
"Yea, I do."
"So are you going to tell me?" I took a swig of my drink.
She played with the cherry in her apple martini. "Nah, maybe I'll let you stew for a bit first."
Can a good-looking girl and guy just be friends?
To answer this question, let me tell you about the deep, dark and dazed psyche of the male mind.
I can proudly say that I am trained to be a pretty good boyfriend.
Thusly, I am Boyfriend Trained.
I know what it takes to be a pretty good boyfriend. Toilet bowl seat up. Shave before kissing. Farts are not funny (especially in front of her friends). And she never looks fat in those pants.
