I hope you don't use your cell phone while driving.
Did you know that driving while talking on your cell phone is the equivalent of driving drunk? Your attention is taken away from the road and your reaction time is significantly reduced. You might as well be pulling a DUI. Or a DOC (Driving On Cell-phone) perhaps?
"Can you give me a virus?"
When you hear those words, you know you're dealing with one of our nation's most intelligent and determined media reporters that history has ever known. And I mean that with a heapful of sarcasm.
Because: don't trust anything that you read or see.
Beep beep beep beep beep! "Hello? Oh, hi Jake. Yea, I'm watching a movie right now. Uh huh. So what's up?"
Imagine hearing that while sitting in a crowded movie theater while the movie is still playing. How utterly annoying.
Whenever I hear that, I just start thinking of red hot sewing needles and poking them into the eyeballs of annoying people talking on cell phones during movies or conferences or speeches and shouting, "How do ya like that, huh? How do ya like that? Yea, punk, that's right! My fist, your face. Right in the face, punk, right in the face!" Mu-hah hah hah hah hah!
Cookies aren't all that bad.
Internet cookies, I mean. The kind left behind by browsers to keep track of information.
Cookies are what make it possible to create customizable and personalizable web interfaces. Wouldn't it be nice to have an interface modeled just for you? Everyone has their own preferences and tastes. With a customizable interface, you can do just that. And a happy surfer is a happy friend, father, mother, brother, sister, etc.
It was believed that computers would give people more free time by making mundane tasks more efficient. We would all be lounging around, sipping our martinis, while computers made our lives easier.
That hasn't exactly happened, has it? Instead, we've become slaves to the clock.
What's with web portals these days? Every large corporation seems to want one. Do they really believe there's big money to be made in the portal business? Or is it just an easy solution to sell to your CEOs when they ask for a web presence?
"Why don't we take this offline? There's not enough bandwidth to go around right now. Let's interface tomorrow to input our action items."
Huh? Wha? Hummahumma huh?
Here's a subject full of controversy: human cloning.
Ever hear of G. Richard Seed? He's hellbent on cloning a human being. Government, activists, and ethics be damned. And he's starting with himself.
What's with the tiny fonts designers seem to love nowadays?
Have you seen them? Some of the nicest designed sites (those that are considered at the cutting edge of web design) use the tiniest of tiny font sizes possible. And they use it for their main copy too.
Does this bother you as much as it bothers me?
I'm sitting here, using Netscape Navigator to check out a web site. All of a sudden, I'm slapped with a big ole' "Best Viewed with Internet Explorer" message across my face.
