Sundays

Overheard in a Cafe

December 3rd, 2006
By Mike Lee

"Can I ask you something off-topic? If a family pet dies, how long can you keep it in the freezer?"

I froze. Slowly, I turned my head. A woman with incredibly large and red hair was barking into a pink Motorola Razr.

Tender Loving Car

September 3rd, 2006
By Mike Lee

It was like my car was taking a golden shower on my finger. But I'm getting ahead of myself.

The day was crisp. Birds were announcing the arrival of the sun. Early morning joggers were taking to the streets. I awoke from some surreal dream and looked at the clock.

"It's Sunday," I thought to myself. "Sweet."

A Stroll through Market Street

June 11th, 2006
By Mike Lee

Bristling with tourists, shoppers, and teens, Market Street on a sunny Sunny afternoon could have almost been 42nd Street in Manhattan, sans the smell of hot dogs.

It's days like this that remind me of how much I love big cities.

Look Ma, A Redesign!

April 2nd, 2006
By Mike Lee

It's finally happened! This site has been redesigned. Oh happy happy joy joy! You can finally let go of your breath now.

This site is now centered on my Rambles, weekly stories on random topics published on Sunday nights (usually, although if life gets busy, I may miss a Sunday). I decided to make my Rambles the main attraction because that's what the vast majority of you seem to want.

The Texas Chainsaw Massacre

November 2nd, 2003
By Mike Lee

Blood and gore isn't the kind of thing that scares me in movies. Ghosts are, but blood and guts, nah.

So when we walked into the theater on a bright Sunday afternoon to watch The Texas Chainsaw Massacre, I was smiling. When I'm in a good mood, I like scary movies. And that day, I was in a good mood.

It's Another Sunday Again

November 17th, 2002
By Mike Lee

It's a sunny Sunday afternoon. I'm back at Borders again. There's a precocious performer picking a guitar, providing a lively atmosphere. Dozens of readers are crowded into this dainty dining area, listening, reading, and sipping espressos.

It's Late and I Can't Think Of a Good Title

November 4th, 2001
By Mike Lee

At a loss for words at the moment. Writer's block.

So, um. Hi. Hello there.

It's technically Monday morning now as I write this. My brain is running on sugar. Not a good fuel to run a brain on. But it can work.

It's Sunday Again

December 19th, 1999
By Mike Lee

Ah, it's Sunday again; another day of quiet and relaxation to myself.

I've made Sundays my day to rest. Life's been going a little too fast lately and a break is much needed.
