About Me

"This is my website. There are many like it, but this one is mine. My website is my best friend. It is my life. I must master it as I master my life."
- Modified US Marine Rifle Creed

My name is Mike Lee and this is my online vanity plate. Of course. What else would a personal website be?

So what can I tell you about myself… hmmm… How about a memory?

One of my fondest memories is having Chopstick Lightsaber duels in a Chinese restaurant with my brother when we were younger.

We'd provide all the necessary battle noises vocally. This, of course, drove our Mom insane. She'd give us some paper and pens to keep us quiet until the food arrived.

I'd doodle on the paper while my brother would take the pen apart. To this day, I still doodle and draw. And my brother still takes things apart.

It's funny, but I've always preferred pens to pencils. It's that quality of permanence that I like. You can't erase ink.

Kind of like life, huh?

You can't go back and erase your mistakes. You can only look back to learn and use those mistakes as part of your drawing.

"They are happy mistakes," Bob Ross used to say. How true. Bob knows. Bob always knows.

Now I leave you with these last few words from Gary Larson: "I don't know how interesting any of this really is, but now you've got it in your brain cells so you're stuck with it."

And now, for more useless trivia:

About My Writing

"Ramble on, and now's the time, the time is now, to sing my song,
I'm goin' 'round the world, I got to find my girl, on my way,
I've been this way ten years to the day, ramble on,
Gotta find the queen of all my dreams."
- R. Plant

There are many different lenses that one can use to view Life.

View it with a funny, light-hearted lens, and Life for you is funny and light-hearted. View it with a harsh, unfair lens, and Life for you is harsh and unfair.

These stories, or Rambles, as I used to call them, are what I see when using the Storyteller Lens.

With this lens, Life becomes a series of stories. Each experience is a story unto itself, full of meaning and purpose. Some are painful lessons learned, others are fleeting magical moments. A few play on the fancies of my imagination.

Some of these stories are told with verbose prose. Others rely entirely on dialogue. All are personal experiments in writing styless and topics. They give me a chance to stretch my creative muscle. I'm not always successful, but I try.

A new entry is posted every Sunday.

I hope you like them. Enjoy.

"There is no such thing as life. We make up ourselves and others. There are only stories. Storytellers can make reality what they want it to be. Others must lie."
- Unknown

"Are you sure you want to ask me that? 'Cuz the answer is a story. Ask me that, and I'll tell you a story."
- Boomtown
