I just finished reading Robert Cialdini's "Influence". It's a book about six basic behavioral principles that can be used to influence people.
So it was with great interest that I engaged in a conversation with Stephen, a gentleman sitting next to me on my Southwest flight to New York. He offered me some drink coupons and then tried to sell me some air treatment equipment.

It's a sunny Sunday afternoon. I'm back at Borders again. There's a precocious performer picking a guitar, providing a lively atmosphere. Dozens of readers are crowded into this dainty dining area, listening, reading, and sipping espressos.

It was the bent tire rod that sent me home on Halloween night. Don't worry, it wasn't Halloween mischief; it was just a small accident.
Without reliable steering, I didn't dare venture to the costume party my friends went to, even though it was Halloween and I was dressed up and all ready to go out.

"Oh?" I whirled my Jack & Coke, then tossed the straw into a napkin.
"Yea, I do."
"So are you going to tell me?" I took a swig of my drink.
She played with the cherry in her apple martini. "Nah, maybe I'll let you stew for a bit first."
